I don’t know if I will ever be able to talk about this book or how I felt while reading it.

This book haunted me, touched me, I couldn’t put it down, I cried, I have been horrified, I have been tensed from page one to the last.

This book is my first one of Alessandra Torre, and it will not be the last one. No romance here but a mystery novel, a psychologic one.

Helena Ross is a famous best-seller author. Her last wish is to finish writing her last book: the most important of her life. She has three months to do it because she is dying from cancer. It will be about her life and all the secrets inside it.

Well, that was her plan but she knows that it will be impossible because she needs one year to write a novel… So her last chance is to ask the help of a Ghostwriter, so she asks Kate, her agent, to find him.

Yes, this book is about sickness/illness but it is not just about that. To be honest, it’s a small part of the plot, more like a deadline.

This book is more about writing, the love of it! The need for an author to write, the process, the path from an idea to a manuscript and toward a book. You will be immerged in the publishing world with agents, contracts etc.

I have been captived by the story! I couldn’t stop thinking about it even when I closed the book.

Helena‘s story deeply moves the reader, there is no concession. We follow the story chapter by chapter to reach the truth, the final revelation.

Alessandra is a suspense genius, she gives us clues during all the novel. She gives us her story, we have the sensation to be a guest behind the scene because we know that each word, each clue leads to the revelation, exactly the same way Helena lives with her book.

I really loved Helena character: her spirit, her comes back, her sarcasm. I was touched by her personality.

The same way I was touched by the Ghostwriter: his words, touches, he is really important for the story and I love their duet.

We can call it a psychologic mystery, a « behind closed doors » story between the past and the present.

When I finished the novel, I was totally moved. Moved by the story, the feelings, the words and last but not least: Alessandra’s style which adds « un je ne sais quoi » so real and alive.

I didn’t expect anything when I started the novel and yet I have been hooked from the first page!

I highly recommend it!

Je ne sais pas si je vais être capable de parler du livre ou de lui rendre justice.

C’est un livre qui m’a touchée, m’a hantée, que je n’ai pas pu lâcher, j’ai pleuré, j’ai souri, j’ai été horrifiée et la tension ne m’a pas quittée de la première à la dernière page !

Ceci est mon premier Alessandra Torre, et ce ne sera pas le dernier ! Mais ici pas de romance, vous trouverez un livre à suspense, un polar psychologique.

Helena Ross est une auteure reconnue, best-seller plusieurs fois, qui souhaite écrire son dernier livre, le plus important de sa vie. Car oui, Helena apprend qu’elle a un cancer, il lui reste trois mois à vivre (no spoiler ici, vous le savez dès le début). Son dernier souhait est d’écrire son histoire et d’en révéler tous les secrets.

Seulement, elle qui met 1 an à écrire ses livres, doit se rendre à l’évidence et demande à Kate, son agent, de trouver un Ghostwriter pour l’aider.

Alors oui, ce livre parle de maladie car nous suivons Helena, mais ce n’en est qu’une partie.

Ce roman est une ode à l’écriture, au besoin qu’un auteur a d’écrire, au chemin qui mène à l’écriture et ce qui en fait un roman. Vous enterez aussi dans le monde de l’édition, des liens agents/auteurs, des contrats etc. Et puis, vous serez suspendus aux mots d’Helena et du Ghostwriter.

J’ai été complétement captivée par l’histoire ! Même en posant le livre je ne pouvais m’empêcher d’y penser.

L’histoire d’Helena vous prend aux tripes, sans concession. Nous suivons petit à petit le chemin vers la vérité. On avance chapitre par chapitre avec le Ghostwriter jusqu’à la révélation.

Alessandra manie à merveille le suspense, les indices sont distillés par petites touches. Elle nous livre elle aussi son histoire, on a l’impression d’être dans le processus d’écriture car on voit bien que tout cela nous mène à la révélation.

J’ai beaucoup aimé le personnage d’Helena, son esprit, sa repartie, son sarcasme. J’ai été touchée par sa personnalité.

Tout comme j’ai été touchée par le Ghostwriter, ses gestes, ses mots, ce qu’il apporte à l’histoire et ce duo qui se forme.

On peut appeler cela un thriller psychologique, un huis-clos entre passé et présent.

J’ai fini le livre complètement dévastée par l’histoire ainsi que les mots et le style d’Alessandra qui rendent le tout si vrai, si vif !

Je ne m’attendais à rien de spécial en commençant ce roman et puis j’ai été transportée !

Je ne peux que vous le recommander chaudement !

C’était génial !

J’ai beaucoup aimé ce livre, ces persos, le contexte et toutes les références dans ce book.

Melody a 27 ans et veut changer quelque chose dans sa vie alors elle décide d’ouvrir sa propre agence de ghostbusting, mais Melody est différente.

Depuis des générations, la famille Bittersweet voit les morts. Alors que sa grand-mère et sa mère aident les morts à passer leur message. Melody, elle, veut aussi aider les vivants et faire partir les fantômes.

C’est donc comme ça que tout démarre. Avec l’aide d’Artie et de sa bff Marina, Melody entre en scène avec le manoir Scaborough où des fantômes empêchent la vente de celle-ci. Melody devient donc la principale rivale de Léo Dark, son ex et l’homme qui lui aussi voit des fantômes.

Cette affaire est semée d’embûches, Melody va devoir faire preuve de courage, découvrir la vérité tout ça sans être embêtée par sa grand-mère et sa mère mais aussi par Fletcher, journaliste de la ville qui ne croit pas du tout aux dons de la famille Bittersweet.

C’est drôle, swoon, l’histoire et l’enquête tiennent la route et nous fait tourner les pages rapidement. Vraiment très très sympa ! J’ai adoré la relation de Melody & Marina, les répliques sarcastiques, la profonde amitié. Artie est un garçon tellement fun et touchant aussi !

J’ai vraiment hâte de lire la suite !

I loved this book, the characters, the background and all the references.

Melody is 27 years old and wants to change something in her life, so she decides to open her own ghost busting agency. Because Melody is different.

For generations, the Bittersweet family has the faculty to see dead people. Whereas her grandmother and mother help the dead to deliver their last message, Melody wants to help the living people to make their ghosts go away.

This is how it all starts. With the help of Artie and her bff Marina, Melody gets into action in the Scaborough mansion that can’t be sold because of the ghosts. Melody then becomes the first rival of Leo Dark, her ex boyfriend, who also sees ghosts.

This case is a long and bumpy ride, Melody will have to be courageous to find out the truth, all of this without being bugged by her grandmother and mother but also by Fletcher, a local journalist who does not believe at all in the Bittersweet family’s gift.

It is funny and it makes you swoon. The story and the mystery get the job done, a real page turner. So good ! I loved the relationship between Melody & Marina, the sarcastic lines and their deep friendship. Artie is a fun and touching guy.

Can’t wait to read the next book !
